Russell Cannings, the current holder of the British Columbia ‘Big Year’ record of 373 bird species seen in one year, undertook an insane major Aussie road trip with my mentor Jukka Jantunen and Jukka’s Dad. So far, it sounds like it was a totally awesome (and crazy!) birding trip with amazing birders! They travelled 15,000km over 36 days, tallying more than 500 bird species. You can find Russell’s introduction to their Australian trip by going through the link I have pasted onto this post. You can also find the story, part 1 and 2 of the “Aussie Roadie” series and some amazing photos of very cool birds by going through this link. May Russell’s posts give you as much amusement as they did to me
